It’s been quite a year in fashion and as we approach the end of 2018, we look back at the biggest hosiery moments of the year. So strap in as we look at the most talked about hosiery news of the last 12 months.
At 5, it’s Meghan Markle.
Transitioning from bare legged Californian babe, to demure princess in sheer pantyhose. There were a few awkward ensembles to start with including strange colour matching and dodgy satin finishes but we think she’s got it down now. Looking beautiful and bracing the British weather in opaque tights and berry hues, plus the Royal sheer tights obsession! Read more about Meghan’s look here.
At 4, it’s Wolford, the biggest name in hosiery, and their whacky rebrand!
Wolford is known as a classic brand, producing luxury legwear and bodywear, a leader in high-end fashion.
However, in recent weeks they have changed their brand imagery, launching their SS19 campaign with a high energy, zany vibe to keep fresh and relevant in the luxury market. Read all about the launch event here.
We love, love, love the new photography and with much more to come next year…watch this space!
At 3, it’s Pamela Mann’s Recycled Tights.
Fuelled by documentaries such as Blue Planet and Stacy Dooley investigates, a spotlight is being shone on our actions and attitude towards waste and the environmental impact of our day to day lives. Hosiery brand Pamela Mann have taken this on board and replaced two of it’s best selling styles with a more environmentally friendly version that uses 88% recycled yarns – even the packaging is made from recycled cardboard. Read the full story here.
At 2, it’s Serena Williams in Compression Tights.
The tennis superstar was back on centre court this summer and matched her pristine tennis whites with skin tone compression tights. Used to improve blood circulation and, in Serena’s case, help to prevent blood clots which the Grand Slam winner had problems with during the birth of her first child last September. This peaked a lot of interest in compression hosiery and has been a busy season for our compression tights range at The Tight Spot! Check out more on this story here.
Finally, at number 1, it’s Queen RiRi en Vogue.
Gracing the cover of the prestigious September Issue, Rihanna wore Jonathan Aston Lace Tights. With all eyes on this edition as new Editor in Chief, Edward Enninful, put together his first issue. The Bajan beauty looked sensational in Prada dress and gloves, Savage X Fenty body and British Brand Jonathan Aston Tights. The striking look was completed with a floral crown and pencil thin eyebrows! A look we certainly won’t forget in a hurry.
So that’s it. Our top 5 – we can’t wait to see what 2019 has to bring in the hosiery world.
We’re already eyeing up an explosion in animal print hosiery, more sheer V opaque patterns and lots of socks, which are huge in street style at the moment…. stay tuned hosiery fans!
